In Search Of... "Glenn Miller" (1980)

Here's another excellent episode from the fourth season. We start off learning about who musician Glenn Miller was and what made him so popular. We then get into his mysterious disappearance during WWII and hear from several people who believe that there might have been some sort of conspiracy in his plane crash. If you're a fan of Miller or the series then you'll certainly love this episode as once again it does a great job at telling you the story as well as making you wonder what actually happened. The episode works perfectly well as a bio of Miller but the mystery of his death is certainly the most fascinating aspect.

Fascinating episode done in much the same style as earlier episode 'Amelia Earhart'(Who gets a mention) focuses on the famed Big Band leader Glenn Miller, who in 1944, gave up a successful and lucrative civilian career to join the Allied war effort in World War II, only to find himself dissatisfied and forlorn. Goes into revealing background about Miller's psychology and reputation, and how most people never really knew him. He tragically went missing on a routine airplane flight over the English Channel on his way to France with two others, none of whom were ever seen or heard from again. Not as well remembered as Amelia Earhart, this case is still most effective and poignant, and his music lived on after his demise...
