In Search Of... "Indian Astronomers" (1978)

This here is the second episode in the series to deal with the Mayan people. The first one dealt with the various mysteries left behind but their people but this one here takes a look on the belief by some that the Mayan's left their location in Mexico and traveled North where they became Indian astronomers. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking or overly wonderful about this episode but it's certainly entertaining and is worth watching. There are some pretty good and interesting theories thrown out about the possibility of the Mayan's moving up North. Fans of the series should certainly be entertained by this episode.

Sequel(of sorts) to 'Mayan Mysteries' is even better, as it further explores this vanished culture of advanced mathematics and geometry that nonetheless shunned the technology that western civilization embraced, or at least never discovered itself. Episode presents a most interesting account of the culture, and the modern-day surviving peoples of it, and how they live apart from our modern world. No references to doomsday dates that came and went without incident in this one at least, which makes it hold up better than its predecessor. Still, watching them both in sequence may make for an interesting experience.
