Short summary
The town's marching band is taking part in a national competition. To stand a chance, the mayor must urgently find a drum-major. Non-member Alberto accepts, just so he can join the free dinner afterward. Octaaf, who is cooking the spaghetti, meanly maintains only he would have been a good choice and accidentally (?) disables Alberto by crushing his foot. The he meanly refuses to take over, but is forcibly uniformed. Alas, in the scramble his glasses drop in the soup, unnoticed, so he 'leads' blindly.
