Short summary
After Planet Express ship is scrapped, professor saves it from the junkyard and rebuilds it into a super racer. But an accident during a race sends the ship into a two-dimensional universe.
The mobius drag strip is a nod to the orange HotWheels flexible race tracks originally sold in the 1980s. They could be connected in loops, bent into swirls, etc. You can even see lines where the pieces of track are connected.
The button Sal presses to incinerate the ship says "INCINERATES", parroting his bad grammar.
The professor refers to the planet express ship as "Bessie" in this episode, in Doctor Who, this is what the third doctor names his car
