Short summary

While stranded at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean with the rest of the Planet Expeess crew, Fry meets a mermaid and quickly falls in love.

In the original broadcast, the end credits were shown in a sidebar on the screen. It was greatly reduced in size and proportions. This resulted in Donovan and Parker Posey being credited as Donovan Parker and Posey.

First appearance of Hermes' recurring line "My Manwich!"

The unbreakable diamond filament is a reference to Arthur C. Clarke's novel The Fountains of Paradise, where diamond is used as a building material for a space elevator.

When the gang first makes it to Atlanta, Bender mumbles the tune to "Dueling Banjos" under his breath. This is a reference to the film "Deliverance" where a group of city dwellers meet homicidal and violent Southerners.

Umbriel's father "the Colonel" is likely a reference to KFC founder Colonel Sanders, as is his suit.

Based on the position of the needle on the fish scale before and after he falls out of the fish's mouth, Fry weighs somewhere between 175 and 200lbs (while holding a Manwich).
