Nick tells Maggie about the incident in which John caught him carrying an injured Althea into the apartment building. He worries John will turn his hostility toward him on to Althea and asks Maggie to intercede. Later, Matt wants Maggie to make an appointment with a neurologist because of Karen's concern for her. Maggie becomes angry but agrees if it will get everyone off her back. Toni returns from The Cape with a seashell for Mike, and he jokes that he hears a Mermaid telling him that Toni loves him. Hank and Nick discuss how far Mike has come. They're happy about his extended internship. John goes to the research lab to have it out with Nick over his continued interference in Althea's marriage. When John orders him to stay away from Edna and stop pretending that he's Althea's husband, an angry Nick punches him, which Maggie witnesses as she enters the lab.
