The rabbit told you if you are pregnant. The writers had to be thinking of that when they had Bernadette tell the rabbit she is pregnant.

In this episode, before revealing she is pregnant, Bernadette discovers the rabbit she names Valentino. In some cultures, rabbits are seen as symbols of fertility.
