» » The Doris Day Show Buck's Portrait (1968–1973)

Short summary

Nick has hired famed artist Amanda Merriwether to do a painting for the magazine's pioneer issue. Despite her and Doris' less than friendly first meeting based on a misunderstanding, Nick asks Doris to drive her around the countryside to find a suitable subject for that painting. After a few missteps, Amanda thinks she's found the perfect subject: Buck. Buck initially declines the offer as it would take two days out of his life, but Doris is eventually able to convince him to do it. After complaining about the process of sitting for a painting, Buck begins to relish the thought of being the subject of a magazine cover. Doris runs into an issue when the cover ends up not being quite what she or probably Buck envisioned it to be based on Amanda's preliminary sketches. She has to figure out a way to break it to Buck who will probably be disappointed based on that expectation.
