John Scott is the managing editor of Prestige Magazine, which has twice the circulation of Today's World. John offers Doris the position of women's editor for the magazine, and will do whatever it takes to ensure she says yes, including doubling her current salary. Out of loyalty to Cy, Doris initially declines John's offer. But she changes her mind when she and Cy have an argument, in the process he, solely in the heat of the moment, implying that he doesn't appreciate her contributions to the magazine.
