When Callisto escapes from prison, she builds an army of evil and sends Joxer to tell Xena that she's going to continue killing. Perdicus marries Gabrielle, but Callisto interrupts their honeymoon.

Closing credit read "This episode is dedicated to the memory of Michelle Calvert... We're thinking of you." Michelle was a stunt person and stunt double on the series, and died in a boating accident in April 1996.

This is the second episode in which Xena sings a funereal dirge.

The "new" Xena kills less often than the "old" Xena, but still quite often. In this episode, Xena lets Callisto die even though she begs for Xena to help her (not rescuing someone from dying is eligible when conducting a body-count). The "new" Xena's body-count after this episode is 55.
