After being betrayed by Gabrielle, Xena is carried to the Green Dragon's prison, where she'll wait her execution. There she continues remembering the days she spent with Lao Ma, and the chance she gave her to change her life.

The "new" Xena kills less often than then "old" Xena, but still quite often. In this episode, Xena kills the Chinese executioner with the telekinetic powers she learned from Lao Ma, turning him into human pin cushion with various pointy objects. Finally, off-screen, she plunges her hair pin into the side of Ming T'ien's head and tells Gabrielle that he's not dead. To the viewer, the final shot is ambiguous: Ming is either paralyzed or dead. The truth is revealed 5 episodes later, when Xena reveals to Gabrielle that she killed Ming. The "new" Xena's body-count after this episode is 80.
