Short summary

Upon nearing El Dorado Station, Beka receives a message from her "Uncle Sid", who seems to be be in urgent trouble. She goes to meet him, with Trance in tow; meanwhile, the men on Andromeda attempt to sell what they don't need in order to buy new parts. Beka finds Sid calling himself "Sam Proffit" and running TransGalactic, one of the largest shipping companies in the galaxy.

While selecting items for the garage sale, Rommie states that some pieces are ceremonial China from the Than Ambassador. The props were actually rather nice Depression Glass, probably a salad set.

Andromeda is in need of repairs so they head to El Dorado Station to acquire much needed parts. They must get the parts quickly as a space storm is heading their way. Going to the station also enables them to collect their mail; this includes a three year old message from Beka's 'Uncle' Sid. 'Uncle Sid' is actually her late father's partner in crime who appears a little desperate. She takes off in the Eureka Maru along with Trance. When she locates 'Uncle' Sid she has quite a surprise; things have clearly gone well for him since he sent his desperate message... he is now Sam Profit, owner of one of the galaxy's largest shipment companies. He is on the verge of taking over another company and suspects that Beka's arrival can't be a coincidence. It emerges that her father has some data concerning him and he wants it back... unfortunately for Beka she has no idea where it is hidden or what the data is. Things aren't going much better back on Andromeda as the supplies they bought don't appear to work as advertised.

This was a really solid episode; it features all of the regular cast of characters but concentrates on Beka, and to a lesser extent Trance Gemini. There was lots of character development for Beka as we learn quite a bit more about her past; notably how her father's failings shaped the woman she became... we also learn that her hair is rather special; she can change its colour at will! Lisa Ryder is on fine form in the role. Also notable is John de Lancie, AKA 'Q from 'Star Trek', who is great as the roguish 'Uncle' Sid. The main story provides us with plenty of tension and some good fight scenes while the secondary story back on Andromeda provides some humour thanks to the shady salesman. Overall a really good episode.
