Frank Thornton pops up as a snooty butler in a high rise executive apartments telling Harold to sling his hook. When Harold remonstrates that the butler is a just a glorified servant, the butler suddenly drops his posh accent and tells Harold off in a more threatening and working class accent.

Harold goes to the next apartment where he meets the French au pair Monique. She speaks little English but seems to like Harold and he persuades her to go out with him.

Trouble starts when he brings Monique round to meet Albert. It turns out Albert has no communication problems as he speaks fluent French as he spent time in France during the war. In fact it turns out that he spent time in the same village that Monique comes from and might even known her grandmother.

Most of the episode consists of Harold and Monique trying to overcome the language barrier. Once Albert started to show off his French and his photo album, we could guess what was going to come up next.
