Short summary

MI5 Agent Eve Polastri is assigned to a special task force to protect the only witness of an unknown assassin, presumed by Eve to be the one killing people all over the world. Obsessed with female assassins, Eve has formed an investigative dossier on her own and has connected all to one unknown female assassin. Unbeknownst to Eve, she actually meets her antagonist while on guard duty for the only witness. Failure to save the witness results in Eve being fired by MI5, only to have another opportunity knock on her door for her personal obsession to become a reality. Meanwhile, Villanella (the assassin) learns of Eve and her new task force. Though warned off by her handler not to touch either, she has the impetus to ignore these orders, as she is quite a psychotic yet brilliant assassin.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge was nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category for Killing Eve: Nice Face (2018), but lost to Joel Fields & Joseph Weisberg for The Americans' The Americans: START (2018).

There have been some great drama serials on the box over the last few years, but the first episode of any of them, be it innocent, keeping faith, hidden etc is always a slog, there seems to be a habit of starting off with a lame, slow episode, no such problems here. Part one was huge, gripping, intriguing, within five minutes I was hooked, the story is superb, the characters are sensational, I can't remember the last time I got into a serial so quickly.

Jodie Comer as always was terrific, I'm sure we'll get to see her character become even bigger and bolder, awards will follow I'm sure. Sandra Oh equally fantastic, I'm not sure if it was the writing or her acting, but I instantly warmed to her character, again terrific. When you see Fiona Shaw in something you just know it's going to be quality, tremendous actress, one who only seems to accept plum roles, enough said.

Vibrant, bold, energetic, and a bonus point for having Sonia Eliman (Off their rockers!)

    Just brilliant. 9/10

Like what I'm seeing. Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer give great, quirky performances. Also, liked Oh's sarcastic, yet supportive boss.

Though the episode deals with some dark subject matter, it does it all in a stylish and darkly humorous way.

Just seen the first episode. It left me hungry for more. Love Sandra Oh and very happy to see her on screen. I love the dialogue, the characters, the international setting, little product placement, though I haven't checked yet the Italian designer's real existence. It gives the first episode a sense of refinement. There is a gap left after The Closer and Major Crimes ended, that is, that of an incredibly intelligent woman, slightly odd, in charge of an investigation. Please keep it this way.

I haven't heard about Killing Eve before - and I just found it under many other shows - and gave it a try.

And man, oh man - was I surprised. The show is corky, funny and humorous, sexy, intelligent - I could really not find a fault.

I was even surprised how much they jam-packed into the pilot episode, without being shallow.

Especially I have been impressed by the protagonist and antagonist - both female- very well portrait by the actors.also.. but also well written. While most films of this genre uses machismo to hook the audience up, Killing Eve does it easily with smartness and corkiness.

I think only, the TV14 rating holds it slightly back - having seen so many great TV shows with R ratings in these days - it just seems that Killing Eve is "cut" and unnecessarily self-restricted.

At the end, it is an interesting, very captivating show with very few faults and I am looking very much forward for the next episodes.

I really enjoyed this episode. The first scene is great, and the rest of the episode continues to be engaging, balancing drama and black comedy deftly, introducing us to the characters well, and ratcheting up the tension when needed. Both Oh and Comer are charismatic and give good performances (Oh in particular) that help add layers to their already well-written characters. I liked the editing throughout, and the music fit nicely with the tone of the episode.

While "Nice Face" is consistently entertaining, the scene at the hospital was genuinely shocking and suitably tense, and was a great way to end the episode. 8 out of 10

Before the female assassin leaves the bathroom, she turns back to the investigator and says, "Wear it down." And she leaves leaving Sandra Oh appalled that a women just remarked on her hair that shes so indecisive about.

Little does Sandra Oh know that moments before ad she looked at that same women across the bathroom sink, it was the same person she interviewed in the beginning of the episode. Most importantly, if only she knew what the women had committed as she returns to the witnesses room or the bloodbath.

This episode was awesome, just simply special and unique! Its blended dark comedy and the spy genre so well I was so intrigued in this pilot. Thanks to the writers and two lead actresses for bringing out the dialogue that the writers created so brilliantly! Sure, if you read the cat and mouse troupe youd think this series has been done to death, but here I am telling you that this is NOT the case.

I found myself wanting to spend more time with the other lead more as she is much more fascinating and complex of a character. She has a sense of humor that's incredibly haunting yet hilarious but most of all I couldnt take my eyes off of her. She commands the camera when shes in a scene to capture her.

I knew there was much hype surrounding this series but there are still some reviews saying dont believe the hype but for the first episode, the hype is real! If the remaining 7 episodes are anything like the pilot, this will be a breakthrough series of 2018!

The pilot resulted in the "I have to hit the next episode button so I can watch immediately" feeling!

From the writer of Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge I was going to give this series a chance. Within five minutes I knew I wanted to see the next episode.

Quirky, funny and dark. Sandra Oh is a MI5 officer Eve on a deskbound job. When a Russian politician is killed by a deadly assassin, Sandra guess the killer was female, and later suggests she is young and flat chested.

Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is the confident lethal assassin. However she is getting cocky and Eve is on to her. In the first episode they meet in the ladies toilet of an hospital.

Add some pan European locations, inject some pace and Killing Eve has a lot going for it.
