Short summary

Construction workers find a rat-eaten, naked, stabbed body. The knee-caps were surgically removed, and sent by mail to Bones, loaded with Gormogon (extinct secret cannibalistic society) clues. It's Douglas Cooper, vicar-general of Washington D.C.'s archbishop Stephen Wallace, on sabbatical to write an esoteric book on pagan rites and early Christianity. The anti-masonic Gormogon symbolism spells an incredibly complex clues cascade Zach relishes in, and reveals the work of a second, much older killer, who apprenticed the dead one. Booth brings in Sweets, who proves smart and helpful in the ensuing, dangerous battle of wits.

When Temperance reads to Hayley, it is from the end of Chapter 1 of 'The Secret Garden' by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Temperance ("Bones") says that Amy should call a Dr. Leo Getz. Leo Getz was Joe Pesci's character's name in the Lethal Weapon series.

i love this program! this episode was directed so well and the casting of the "corrupter" fitted the criteria. this is definitely the best episode of series 3 so far and really leaves a cliff hanger to the unravelling of the killer throughout this series. You can see how close the pair (bones and booth) are during the episode. further more the witty banter between Zach and Hodgins with their "king of the lab" antics adds to the comic undertone of the episode, not to mention Angela Montenegro's sassy comments tat she throws in to prove her ignorance to the "squint talk". Also, Sweets, the new regular cast member makes for a much needed extra insight or brain throughout the show. 2 thumbs up or should i say 2 "phalange's" up

This is a very creepy episode, mainly because I've watched these once and know who the new apprentice is. It shows a flash of him at the end. I actually paused it to see, and...well, let's just say that it does look a lot like him. But there is absolutely no hint that it is him...

And Booth's shooting at the end. I think he's pretty much mad at everyone - including Brennan - so I'm not sure who he was thinking about when he was target practicing.

We also see Brennan kiss Booth - on the cheek. Booth is obviously affected by this as he tries to quickly recover from it...

This is the second actual Gormogon story (you can count it the third if you ant to include the episode where they name him). I believe there is one more story - the finale where everything's revealed and it is really, really, really bad!!!

I must admit I am not crazy about these Gormogon episodes, just as I was never fond of the conspiracy episodes of THE X FILES. Gormogon bores me. The gang is closing in on this flesh-eating killer in this episode, so he decides to turn the tables on them and tries to kill B&B while he goes about his ritualistic work. What might play OK on the printed page does not fare so well on screen. More interesting is the subplot involving the return of Brennan's fugitive brother, so that he can see his sick stepdaughter. Brennan's dad figures into that return. We get to meet the previous Gormogon, by the way, for those who are into this story arc.
