Short summary

Four mates, Butler, Boost, Taylor and Pecky, come to visit their mate Tony over in Spain for his birthday. After reaching his apartment and not finding him anywhere, they decide to head to the bar where they have a few drinks, shortly they see a lot of crazy characters around the bar, and one in particular catches their eye. A Voodoo Priest appears and Taylor bets Butler to go and talk to him, after few moments, Butler manages to anger the Voodoo Priest, and curses his genitalia to fall off. Now the 3 other mates have a task to find 3 secret ingredients and convince the Priest to save Butler's crotch and wild goose chase adventure.

A cardinal bird is hidden in every scene after Butler has been cursed by the Voodoo Priest.

The hat Mr Fish wears is owned by the film's documentary maker Harry Downing.

During the filming of Famer Kunt's final scene the crew and cast were forced to abandon the shoot due to the owner of the land chasing everyone off his land with a cane, this is why his sequence ends so abruptly.

All Apartment scenes were filmed together in one day. Starting from around 9:30am, with included breaks, all those scenes were finished at Midnight that same day. As shown in the Documentary 'A Plethora of Maniacs and Spiral Stairs'.

The 4-main group of characters are all named after musical artist Butler - Jason Aalon Butler (Letlive) Boost - Kanye West Taylor - Tyler The Creator Pecky - Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes)

At the film's mid-point the 4-main characters wear t-shirts each with a reference that inspired aspects of the film and its content. Butler's shirt is a reference to the British comedy series Red Dwarf. Taylor's shirt is a reference to the British comedy series The Goodies. Boost's shirt is a reference to the band The Wonder Years. Pecky's shirt is a reference to the film Chef.

Old British comedies such as Red Dwarf, The Goodies, Bottom, Monty Python Works and Ripping Yarns had huge influence on the film's storyline and comedic style.

The film's title is a reference to two songs from the album No Closer To Heaven by The Wonder Years, those songs being 'Brothers &' & 'Cardinals'.

The character of Le Chef is based on a parody of the film Chef done by YouTuber Filthy Frank.

The character of Tony is played by John Dey, a tutor at Bradford College who is famous for his cameos in the student's films, the writers of this film decided to kill off his cameos once and for all.

A joke referencing the Paris Terror Attacks of recent years was removed before the film's premiere due to the film's release around the time of the 2017 Manchester and London Terror Attacks.

The opening sequence is colour graded to replicate the colour's seen in J. Cole's music video for False Prophets.

The finished concept is very different from the original film idea, the original ideas included such concepts as a psychiatrist character, Voodoo Priest and Fortune Teller having names, Taylor being revealed as a paedophile and a cameo from Shovel Guy, a character from the writer's previous film Flying Tiger.

The original title of the film was Holland 1945 named after the Neutral Milk Hotel song of the same name; the name was changed due to story purposes, but the original title is referenced with the use of the song during the ending credit sequence.
