Don't judge this movie based on the fact that is one of the Disney Channel movies, which usually stink. Will Friedle and Elisabeth Harnois do a spectacular job portraying the roles of Duncan Fletcher and Hallie Richmond. A sure-fire family movie night.

In this comedy, Hallie Richmond is the daughter of the President of the USA. She is tired of being followed around by the Secret Service, and longs to lead a normal life. When not-so-popular Duncan Fletcher sees her at the mall, not recognizing her, he asks her if she would like to go with him to his prom. Hallie excitedly says yes.

Duncan is astounded when he finds out Hallie is the president's daughter, but continues with the date after negotiating with the president. Finally they agree that the Secret Service must follow them. Hallie is sick of this, so she convinces Duncan to ditch them so they can have some fun. Outraged, the President starts a search. To make matters worse, it is the night of a big election dinner.

Cute, funny, and family-oriented, this a TV movie I would recommend.

Normally I'd avoid any movie with a title like this, in fact any movie with 'president' in it. However, it only took the sight of Jay Thomas (memorable from Cheers and many other appearances) to hook me and eventually keep my attention until the final rap.

Overall I thought this was an extremely fine movie both in content and performances. It was well-directed and good to watch and in fact offered a pretty believable portrait of life in the white house, unlike most bigger budget movies which tend to gloss over the chinks in the armor.

Unusually, this is a movie from the 1990s which can actually be recommended as solid family viewing.

A great movie. The cast was great and all turned in outstanding performances Dabney Coleman was good and Will Freddle gave his usual hysterical performance, but the real star was Elizabeth Harnois. I remember her as Alice in Adventure in Wonderland, you knew she had talent then but she really showcased it now. She is a very beautiful girl and I'm predicting she will be one to watch.

Through an unforeseen combination of circumstances, young teen Will Friedle manages to wind up with a date with the daughter of the president of the United States. The young lady, Elizabeth Harnois, is something of a wild child and the two of them ditch the Secret Service and end up with stories to tell their grandkids. That is assuming they have the same grandkids.

When this film was made by and for the Disney Channel we had a president of the United States with a teenage daughter named Clinton. In the intervening years the Bush family has given us two daughters who were roughly Chelsea Clinton's age when she was in the White House. One wonders whether George and Laura Bush stay up worrying whether Jenna and Barbara will ditch their Secret Service detail for a little fun and frolic. As if George didn't have enough problems.

The president and first lady are played by Dabney Coleman and Mimi Kuzyk and Friedle's parents are Jay Thomas and Wanda Cannon. Imagine when they have to leave a party at Thomas's boss's house to go to the White House because while they know their son is on a date, they don't know who the girl is.

Will Friedle played the goofy older brother in Boy Meets World and I always liked him. He's got great talent. I once saw an episode of that series which called upon Friedle to do a reading from Romeo and Juliet and he did it with conviction and passion. Friedle could have been trained at the Old Vic he was that good and I've admired his talent ever since. Still he's nicely typecast in doing goofy roles like this one, like Boy Meets World and serving as the voice of Ron Stoppable in Kim Possible.

This truly is a fantasy though. That fact was brought home to us by the news that Jenna Bush is now engaged to some Ivy League preppy of impeccable blue blood background. As if a kid like who Will Friedle plays is ever going to hook up with a real president's daughter.

Still it's a nice teen fantasy, brought to us courtesy of the Magic Kingdom.

I have to admit, I was 12 when this came out. I was in love with it. I was the age they were aimed at. I saw this on the Disney channel last night. I thought I would still love it. I have recently discovered that tastes change. And sometimes for the better. Although, I still think it was a cute little comedy. 12 year olds will definitely enjoy it. I wouldn't doubt that. The acting and the story are just a little lame. And of course there always is a message to be learned. Afer all, this was on the Disney channel. But it's better then most of the trash 12 year olds watch today. So, I would suggest it for them.

This movie gets up and running quickly and will take you along for a very fun ride. Witty and well thought out humor, quite different from typical movies. Adults will be entertained and treated with plenty of catchy comedy while children of all ages will be amused by the likeable characters and charismatic predicaments. A big thumbs up, and if it's feel good (and clean) comedy you want, I really tag this as a 10.

I liked this movie because it's very entertaining with some jokes and funny scenes. No hard thoughts, no real dramas, no big tears, no bad emotions. It's perfect if you want to spend some time without thinking and feel good after that. The main plot idea is promising and launching some fantasies - what if...?, but plot development and some twists are quite silly. Perfect for kids and not-nihilistic teens.

9 for entertainment; 4 for silly plot

We saw this on the Disney channel, one of a whole host of movies which get laughs at the difficulty of being a teen daughter of the president. I wonder why there are no movies about the difficulty of being a teen son of the president? It is all silly fluff, but Dabney Coleman (as the President) is always fun to watch and a cute teenager (Elisabeth Harnois) plays Hallie, his daughter.

Set in and around Washington, DC, it is election time again and the president is having a re-election rally. Meanwhile his daughter has a date with Duncan, the son of a car salesman. Things do not go smoothly, and much of the movie is slapstick situations. Including Duncan's dad's car getting stolen by a couple of kookie, harmless kids.

SPOILERS. The car is eventually recovered intact, in the process of chasing it the President ends up in jail because the officer doesn't believe he is the real President. Hallie ends up at a party without Duncan, but he shows up in time to save her from a cad. The President gains a newfound respect for his daughter, the car salesman for his son, and the two kids become boyfriend and girlfriend.

Maybe the target audience of this Disney Channel TV-movie will be pleased with it, but if any parents are watching along with the youngsters, they will clearly see that "cranked out" is written all over this production. Obviously it was no one's dream to make this movie, but rather, this was concocted in a board room somewhere, then produced with cold efficiency. There is some talent among the cast, but actors like Dabney Coleman and Jay Thomas don't get much of a chance to showcase their talent. The impossibly cute Elisabeth Harnois is engaging as the First Daughter, but Will Friedle is stuck once again playing another dumb character, though he's not nearly as moronic and annoying as in his "Boy Meets World" role. The background for this movie is Washington, D.C. and the White House, but there is no real "presidential" feel to the film and the Secret Service is made out to be little better than the Keystone Kops when it come to doing their duty. The Disney Channel presents a lot of original TV-movies and most of them are better than this.

I saw this movie because it was suggested on IMDb so I said to myself, I might as well give this a go! I honestly didn't realise it was a Disney movie, until I saw the whole movie on YouTube. Some parts were better than others let's just say. I wouldn't call it the best Disney teen movie out there but it does kinda enlightened ya if you ever feel down!

I never saw all of the actors in the movie before, I say Disney did avoid them into getting to new projects. It's funny how I don't recognise them, well let's just say, I never seen this movie before so I wouldn't know who these people are! Elisabeth Harnois and Will Friedle did make a cute couple on screen! It's weird how they are in their 30 ' s now and they have changed so much lemme tell ya!

It's an OK movie, it would be only better if you really had a bad day instead of having a good day! It is quite cheesy if you know what I mean!

I thought that this movie was an excellent movie for all ages to watch. I thought it was creative for the directer to make the end the way it was with the security guards. I liked how they directed the movie. I also liked that they put Hallie to buy a Pink dress. I liked every bit of the movie. I also liked how Dunncan fought with the motorcycle guy. I thought that the part that Dunncan was surprised that he was going out with the presidents daughter. I liked how Dunncan came to go see Hallie at the end. I liked how Dunncan dropped all the hats on the floor at the mall where he met Hallie. I also liked how Dunncan paid his friends off and hoe he explained to them what he really did on the Saturday night with the president's daughter Hallie.

Bad but strangely watchable remake about a teenager (Will Friedle) who goes on a date with the U.S. President's (Dabney Coleman) daughter. The plot is of course ludicrous - they meet in a mall and set a date because she escaped from her secret service bodyguards - and the direction and writing is terrible, but it is watchable enough.

    2.5/5 stars -

There are many many things to revile about this movie. I am a person who criticises readily but even the most generous person must admit that poor writing, poor cinematography, and the depiction of skyscraper's in D.C bring this movie down A lot. The cast, while generally talented where stuck in poorly written, miscast roles. In my opinion one of the few redeeming features was the performance of Canadian actress Nicole DeBoer (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Cube, Phil The Alien) but casting aside the writing and plot killed anything this movie had going for it. and the "All of you leave daddy president alone, he means well!" . scene just irks me. Please don't ask me why I saw this movie and please don't see it yourself

this movie isn't that great...at all but it's good when you want to just laugh, because it's pretty ridiculous :) there are a lot of mistakes in it and it's cheesy. i got this movie for Christmas like 5 years ago but for some reason i've never given it away. i guess i just like it for a rainy day even though i only watch it like once a year. This is a very 90's movie so it's really funny to see how everyone dresses and acts. this movie is good for someone young...although come to think of it, i didn't even like it much when i was like 12 but that's just my personal opinion. the movie was really predictable. i wish it had had some extra weird twists but i guess it was trying to be an appropriate movie for everyone to enjoy. i think it was appropriate for the whole family but Hallie's dress was a bit unmodest but certainly appropriate enough for family material.
