Short summary
When Sam Drucker decides not to run for mayor again, the men of Hooterville draft Oliver and the women choose Lisa. A campaign of dirty tricks ensues, resulting in Oliver getting hosed down and his a hat filled with hotcake batter. Haney and Fred plot to improve Oliver's image, by not letting him make his long-winded speeches and kissing babies. The Douglas' marriage suffers, leading to a campaign opportunity for Ralph Monroe.
To appeal to the youth, Haney puts a blonde "Beatle wig" on Oliver. Fred says he looks like Patsy Kelly, an actress in the 1930s.
Sam Drucker's been the mayor of Hooterville for 37 years.
Haney and Fred try to shorten Oliver's speeches because people fall asleep after he yammers for ten minutes. If they're less than five minutes, the audience only start to yawn.
In the opening scene the green and white cans on the lower shelf behind Sam are all stacked right side up. In last week's show half of them were stacked upside down.
