Short summary

Following the 18-year success of their reviews on The Movie Show (1986), renowned Australian critics and film supporters David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz take to a new show, where each week they review five of the latest releases - ranging from big budget flicks to independent Iranian films - always with their unique chemistry, and familiar style that has made them Australian cultural icons.

This show was created when its stars did not agree with the way their current network, SBS, was treating them and its audience. The duo moved to a new network and a new show in a much publicized change.

Over the 11 years the series was on air, only seven movies were given five stars by both David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz: Head õhtut ja õnn kaasa (2005), Brokebacki mägi (2005), Ei ole maad vanadele meestele (2007), Samson and Delilah (2009), Jodaeiye Nader az Simin (2011), Armastus (2012) and Lindmees ehk (võhiklikkuse ootamatu voorus) (2014).

Series producer Brendan Walls joined David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz in moving from SBS to ABC for this show.

Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton continue to illuminate. Their passion for movies, their near brawls (over such movies as Dancer in the Dark), Margaret's earrings, its all still here in At the Movies. It essentially keeps the format of The Movie Show; movies being rated out of 5 stars, however the larger budged afforded to the program on ABC allows for satellite interviews and greater access to the film festival circuit. Each episode typically contains comprehensive reviews of between 3 and 6 films, and often interviews with those involved with the films creation will also be shown. After 17 years on Australian television, David and Margaret are still here, and as strong as ever.
