Short summary

Young Jack Wright offers his hand in marriage to the winner of a lottery, but after committing to the winner falls in love with another woman.

    Newspaper owner Foxhall Peyton ( Harrison Ford ) reluctantly lends his usually broke college friend, Jack Wright ( Wallace Reid ), who writes for the paper, five hundred dollars on the condition that he write a story to increase circulation. After Jack loses the money in the stock market, he suggests starting a lottery, in which the prize for the woman with the winning ticket would be him for a husband. While hundreds of thousands of women of various sorts buy chances, Jack falls Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.

    in love with Foxhall's cousin, Helen Heyer ( Wanda Hawley ). When Jack is unable to cancel the lottery, Helen leaves thinking that Jack is mercenary. After Jack is mobbed during the drawing, Lizzie Roberts ( Carolyn Rankin ), an old maid, produces the winning ticket, but Jack's maid Nora ( Marcia Manon ) proves that Lizzie stole it from her. Because Nora is in love with Jack's butler, she sells the ticket to Jack for half of the proceeds. When Jack finds Helen, her suitcase pops open to reveal hundreds of tickets which she purchased. They then embrace.
