» » South Park Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina (1997– )

Short summary

Mr. Garrison gets an operation and becomes a woman; Kyle gets surgery to become tall and black so he can play basketball; Gerald decides he wants to be a dolphin.

The scene in which Garrison undergoes his sex change originally featured over five minutes of real sex change footage because of the lack of ideas. Eventually, the sex change footage was trimmed to three brief one second shots after Comedy Central disapproved and after the idea of Gerald Broflovski's dolphin operation was brought up.

This episode is definitely bizarre and a little shocking, and possibly the most nauseating South Park episode I have seen; that said, the jokes are as funny as ever and it is interesting to see how significantly the public perception of sex change operations has changed. I'd tend to doubt this episode would be allowed to air today. If you can avoid being offended, Mr Garrison's Fancy New Vagina will certainly keep you entertained.

Originally aired on 09 March 2005 this episode begins with Mr. Garrison going to Trinidad to have a sex change and we see some real footage, certainly bizarre and totally disgusting (I don't think that footage was shown on MTV but I'm not really sure) and after this Mr. Garrison is now Mrs. Garrison. So we have this story and also the story of Kyle wanting to join the basketball team of the State. Kyle is actually the very best basketball player of the South Park Elementary School and his dream is to play someday for the Denver Nuggets however he just can't compete with the rest of the players then he will want to be tall and black so that's the connection with the plot of Mrs. Garrison since basically is when Kyle sees that now Mr. Garrison is a "woman" when his mother Sheila gives the speech of "sometimes a person's outside doesn't reflect who they are on the inside", Kyle listen to hip hop music and loves basketball then Dr. Biber will do a negroplasty. So this is bizarre stuff and certainly you will see Kyle black and tall but not before you see that his father Gerald is now a dolphin (dolphinoplasty-hilarious!), a Jewphin or Lawphin or whatever but is just totally hilarious and so f*****g bizarre. The story of Mrs. Garrison is also fun and when she realizes that she's not really a woman but a "guy with a mutilated penis" is near the scene in which a police says this: "so let me get this straight, that woman over there was trying to get to her balls which were in the knees of a black child whose father is a dolphin".

I was totally blown away by this episode when I saw it for the very first time back in 2005. I remember that during those days I wasn't really into South Park and certainly with this episode I had a reminder of why I loved South Park. Just yesterday I got Season 9 on DVD and this episode still ranks as one of me personal favourites, basically I haven't seen most of the Season 9 however I'm almost sure that this is one of the very best and certainly is memorable and very bizarre, you really should watch it.

Something from Trey and Matt's mini commentary: they originally wanted like 4 minutes of the real footage of a sex change operation.

An oft repeated line in this episode was "Is there anything wrong with making you look on the outside how you feel on the inside?" - and because of this, many terrible things happen.

Mr. Garrison has an irreversible sex change he comes to regret, Kyle gets completely mutilated and blows his knees out. And Gerald becomes literally deformed to a point that, if this was not a cartoon, it would be fatal.

This episode was all the way back in 2005! They touched upon trans-race and trans-species and at the time, people called the South Park Writers morons that were exaggerating the issue. In 2018, its quite obvious South Park predicted everything to a T.

Glorious episode, but very disgusting. Still, glorious!

This episode shows Mr.Garrison getting a sex change operation, and becoming Mrs.Garrison.He would be a woman until the Season 12 episode "Eek A Penis" where he turns back into a man.He also becomes a lesbian in the Season 11 episode "D-Yikes".The episode contains a very disgusting scene of Mr.Garrison's sex change which is real archive footage of an actual sex change being shown.Probably one of the most sickening scenes in South Park. After he becomes a woman, he feels happier, however his boyfriend Mr.Slave leaves him and he then finds out that he cannot have a period or get pregnant.Meanwhile, Kyle is not qualified for the basketball team because "jews can't play ball".So he goes to the doctor that changed Garrison and asks to be a tall black man.Kyle's dad Gerald goes to complain and then he becomes a dolphin. The doctor used Garrison's old body parts for Kyle and Gerald, however if Kyle plays basketball, his kneecaps(which are Garrison's balls) will explode.Garrison wants to be a man again so he must go find Kyle before it's too late! This is a fairly good South Park episode with funny moments.

I think many of us can agree on this one, but this was a terrible terrible episode. ALSO if you have a weak stomach, DO NOT watch the live action surgery scene that comes early in the episode, it's gruesome. Mr Garrison gets a sex change. Any plots alone in animated sitcoms involving this plot are bound to be bad. So avoid this one while you can, also I can't bear the scene where Kyle's kneecaps burst. Kyle by the way wants to play alongside his favourite basketball team, but he's not tall enough.

Also, Gerald becomes a dolphin and that's pretty much the whole episode. Skip it while you can. It's a disastrous episode. Not one of South Park's greatest unfortunately.

This is by far my least favourite episode. It really is out of character for Kyle, unpleasant to watch, disgusting, nut funny at all and hasn't the smart charme of the South Park I know
