South Park The City Part of Town (1997– ) watch online HD

I have studied Urban Development for my Bachelor's degree, so I connected very well with the plot. I agree that the episode was not very funny and yes, I would have liked it to go deeper in child labor force. But what they showed about Kenny's house is exactly what is happening in our cities: revitalizing the aging part of town by leaving the original texture the way it is. In fact, if you ask an urban planner about what to do in a similar case in real life, you would hear the exact same words that were said in this episode. Then, based on the recent history of urban development, the story got scarily accurate!

I think people who study the field will get a fair view about the driving forces of this type of change (a group who want more out of their town) and the consequences it might have for low-income housing (Kenny!). If I was a university professor in my field, I would have shown this in my classes. You might not see this episode as funny as many other South Park episodes, but the story is really happening in your city and that's effecting your life in many ways.

This is still resonating.

Funny the night that this aired I checked twitter and everyone was saying that it was written about this town or that town.

No kiddies, it's a statement on gentrification. It's a strong one and it's funny as can be.

I also dug the web pop-up ads arc going on in this season.

Sometimes we just have to laugh at OURSELVES and not the poo the other guy stepped in.

What I need more lines...silly. Well the lofts at the residences at Kenny's house was hilarious!

Season 18 was a big disappointment for me. I almost didn't watch this season's premiere, which turned out to be rather lackluster as well. After learning what they did to Donald Trump in episode two (I'm no fan of Trump and wouldn't vote for a progressive like him, but still), I skipped it, especially once I read that PC Principle is still here (why?). I decided to tune in to see Kenny get a job and work for the City Wok guy (surely there must be humor in that, right?) and thought three episodes in, maybe they're finally going somewhere. I was wrong.

I liked that Kenny took the initiative to get a job and why he did it and that he tried, that was perhaps the best part of the episode: a person who doesn't make excuses and tries to better himself. Unfortunately there wasn't much in the way of humor. Even Mr. Kim seemed by the numbers for his character.

At one point in the episode I thought, since Matt & Trey like to take real-life situations and turn them around to make a statement, that building these businesses and brining all the more financially well off to the poor neighborhood (which apparently only consists of Jenny's house) might be a clever commentary on what the government is already in the early stages of implementing: a database on the race make up of neighborhoods across the country, thanks to CFPB, and HUD via the Dodd/Frank bill, from 16 years of lending data and other records they government is collecting (with information on you that would be public and you wouldn't even know about) to check out lending habits, employment data, school discipline and enrollment by race, and the minority status of the neighborhoods, to sniff around and look to see if racial prejudice or "inequality" can be found to force banks to do what they deem they should, threaten schools, and change the racial make up of neighborhoods if the HUD database suggests (based on four races) there aren't enough minorities or too much of one and move people around to different financial status neighborhoods (with pressure on zoning laws on money withheld). That would have been a clever commentary. That's not what happened. Then I thought maybe, just maybe there's some sort of Agenda 21 commentary there. Nope, wrong again. It literally is a continuation of the ideas from the season premiere.

And perhaps it is just me, but there seemed to be some re-visioning of characters here. I thought I remembered the new police captain thinking Barbrady was the dumb bumpkin, so surely they wouldn't be eating together? And I thought I remembered Kenny's parents as just poor rednecks who were lazy and drank, not the folks who make lefty arguments about how you can't get ahead and it's not worth trying.

The ideas are getting tired. If this doesn't all build up to something, has the town burning down these place while singing Kumbaya, and PC Principle dying a worse death than Chef, it's going to be one hell of a remarkable let down. Comedy Central should have renewed it season to season, not until 2019, with the way things have been going for two or three seasons now.

I really think the title of my review is a good summary for this episode. But first, I need to explain myself.

I love South Park, I'm a big fan of these characters and their humor, and I really think that some episodes are cult. I could watch this show during hours. Seriously.

But... That was until Season 19. I already noticed that something changed in this show during the Season 18; yeah, I'm talking about this new format, I'm talking about the episode-to-episode continuity. I really think it is not a so good idea and, even if I enjoyed S18, that was a little disappointment when I compare it to S17 and the previous ones.

But OMG! What are you doing Trey and Matt? This season is like the most awful ever! The premiere was not so good, the second episode was better, but this one? That was so boring. What did you do? I mean, seriously? Did you really think that this episode was funny? Damned...

I did not laugh. I smiled one time at the beginning, during the scene of the reunion. That's all. The rest with the CityWok and this SodoSopa thing was annoying. I miss some characters. I miss Stan, Cartman and Kyle. That's not like they did a lot of things for now in this season, and it is already the third episode of the season! And Kenny was wasted in this one. He has so much more potential (even if I like the scene when he gives the doll to his little sister).

After this episode, I'm worried. With this continuity thing, the events of this episode will have some impacts on the future ones. So yeah; I'm really worried. It breaks my heart to give an 1/10 to South Park. But this episode was sh*t.

Those commercials really annoying. Where are all the jokes? Why it's not funny any more...
