Towards the end of the episode Dr. Thompkins reveal, that one if the victims has had his adrenal glands removed. She refers to these as "the fear glands", explaining they produce cortisol. Although nothing of this is wrong, cortisol is a stress and metabolism hormone, whereas Adrenalin is the fight-or-flight or fear hormone. She does not mention adrenalin.
