Public education has taken a turn in the year 2045 as students are immersed in a completely online setting replacing the previous classroom. Able to watch their teacher from the comfort of their homes students like Claire Preston and Seth Culmer receive a uniquely virtual education. In preparation for their future, these student and their fellow classmates prepare for the much-anticipated college aptitude test. Taking the test with confidence all seems well in the life of Claire Preston until her best friend and classmate Seth is proclaimed dead. As her world crumbles around her Claire is unable to accept the facts circulating Seth's death becoming determined now that he is still alive.
