The Decepticons find a transformer buried in the ice. When they free him, Starscream is pleased to find out it's his old friend/colleague Skyfire. They convince Skyfire to join their ranks against the Autobots. While the Autobots try to stop Megatrons latest plan, Skyfire encounters humans for the first time, and discovers what joining the Decepticons really entails.

This episode contains the first time that Optimus Prime gives the famous "Transform and roll out" order.

This is the only show where the Transformer Jetfire goes under the name of Skyfire.

Skyfire is the first ever Transformer to have changed his alliance, and the only one in the G1 show to have done so.

Skyfire, in the end, is buried under ice, and the other Autobots mourn over his apparent death. He returns a few episodes later, when they simply dig him out.
