Short summary

The Brazilian version of "Floricienta" tells the modern fairy tale of Maria Flor, a Cinderella-in-sneakers. She is a sweet-hearted young girl, who delivers vegetebles and is also the lead singer of her band. The band is contracted by the Fritzenwalden family for their party, organized by the five Fritzenwalden orphaned children. The party coincides with the arrival of Fred, the older (and bossy) Fritzenwalden brother from Germany. After the younger Fritzenwalden Joca runs away from the mansion to Flor's place, a series of misunderstandings turn her into the babysitter of Fred's brothers and sisters. Fred's current girlfriend Delfina and her mother Malva, both equally ambitious, move to the mansion with rogue intentions for the family, as well as for their kinder babysitter. For their desperation, Maria Flor is the lost heiress of the Fritzenwalden - as well as a romance inevitably starts to grow between her and Fred.

Juliana Silveira passed on a role of prostitute and consequently left Rede Globo to star as Maria Flor.

At the show's wrap party after the end of the first season, actress Juliana Silveira broke her foot while dancing with one of the producers. She had to start shooting her scenes ten days after the rest of the cast. To avoid eventual delays, her accident was then incorporated into the script.

In 1999 Bruno Miguel (who portrays DiCaprio) had a small role in Chiquititas Brasil (1997), also created by Cris Morena.

Also, actress Suzy Rêgo (who plays the antagonist Malvina) was considered for the main role of Carol in Chiquititas Brasil (1997), but Flávia Monteiro was cast instead.

Débora Olivieri, who portrays Ana de Alicante in Season Two, is known in Brazil for her portrayal of Carmem Almeida Campos in Chiquititas Brasil (1997), also created/produced by Cris Morena.

Zezé Motta's first role in a Cris Morena production, followed by Rebelde (2011).
