Short summary

A young woman attempts to rescue her father from a gang that has kidnapped him in order to find out his secret for making "Fuelite," a substitute for coal.

Ernest C. Warde and Gilson Willets both died during the making of this serial, forcing Frank Leon Smith to both complete the script and finish the direction of the serial, after Woody van Dyke signed on as director and bowed out.

Ruth Roland decided she needed a vacation and took off with the last two chapters yet to shoot. Her stuntman, Bob Rose, put on a wig and doubled for her in order to wrap up filming.

Chapter Titles: 1. The Last Shot 2. The Seething Pit 3. The Danger Trail 4. The Terror Trail 5. The Temple Dungeon 6. The Pitfall 7. The Fatal Count 8. The Dynamite Plot 9. The Lava Crusher 10. Circumstantial Evidence 11. The Desert of Death 12. The Vital Test 13. The Molten Menace 14. The First Freight 15. Promises Fulfilled

W.S. Van Dyke was hired to shoot action sequences for this serial after the producers decided the footage was too dull. Van Dyke's footage probably would have contained scenes of both Ruth Roland and her stunt double Bob Rose, but Roland refused to work with him under any circumstances. As a result, all of Van Dyke's footage was shot exclusively with stunt double Bob Rose.
