Story about the Collingwood Football Club (Aussie Rules) when their Chairman (Graham Kennedy) who is a owner of a pie factor buys an up and coming footballer for a record price. This film shows the story of how this new star player is excluded by the other player because of his record payment and how he doesn't live up to their expectations when he starts playing for the club. In the end he comes good and justifies him self to his team mates and the clubs board. There is also a sub plot with what goes on behind the scene of the club with the politics of running a club. This is a funny Australian film that looks at Australian life and Culture and how a club sticks together when things go from bad to worst.

I had to watch this movie as a part of a HSC course. We read the book that the movie is based on (no, sorry, the play it's based on, by David Williamson) and I must say that it (WARNING: Spoiler here) follows the book about 75% of the time. But that doesn't mean you HSC students should base your work on it. Stick to the book/play.

Apart from that, it's pretty good. For a film made in the 70's with sad hairstyles and clothing. It's based around a popular team based in Melbourne and it's committee. It's in all sorts of strife thanks to a adulterating president, a drugged up $120,000 "star" not playing well and a coach on the brink of being sacked.

The best scene is when Jock talks to Geoff about their problems. It's funny. You can read the book/watch the play/film to find out what happens. I give it 7.5 out of 10.
