One the goods episodes of entire first season,a creative plot which has an interesting study of mind,a psycho approach when the enemies arrest Nelson and Crane on an unknown island which belong problable to China here just nominated as People's Republic, there they are put in separate cells, without notice to be a wise experience of behavior,Henry Silva as villain in several movies and series once more didn't disappoint, the lush rain forest stage is fantastic with lake, quicksands, rocks and cave....great episode!!Look the helms man...the garment is the same used in previous episode as Robot!!

    First watch: 2007 / how many: 3 / Source: Cable TV-DVD / Rating: 7.5

This one gives another example of is Seaview military or civilian, but the most offensive was casting two Anglo-European actors to feign Chinese accents and one with an attempt at a Fu Manchu mustache. I'm usually pretty forgiving on such things, especially when from pre-70s TV, but this was absolutely atrocious and offensive.

"The Enemies" is one of the better episodes of Season One and is well worth your time. The story begins with a sister ship of the Seaview and it's having serious problems. A tiny disagreement between the Captain and the First Officer results in the Captain going nuts and machine gunning everyone around him!! Evidently, he and the First Mate were not having one of their better days.

When the Seaview investigates, they find the other sub destroyed with no survivors. There's an island nearby and the Admiral and Cran investigate...and soon are captured by soldiers of 'The People's Republic'. Evidently, it's a research facility and the sub disaster was due to a drug these communists have developed which makes friends bitter and violent enemies...and they decide to try it out on their two new prisoners! In the end, however, the Admiral has the last laugh!!

The story was excellent, original and had a great ending. My only complaint is that all the soldiers of this 'People's Republic' were Asian guys EXCEPT for the two guys in charge...and they should have hired Asian actors for all these roles. Still well worth seeing and quite exciting.

Nelson and Crane go to a creepy island and find two oddballs (one is Malachi Throne).

Granted, these sort of "manhunt" dramas have been seen in other 1960s adventure shows like I Spy, Lost In Space, Star Trek, Get Smart, etc...but when done right...these shows can be outstanding!

Generally speaking, I usually get a bit turned off when nearly a whole Voyage episode is land-based as this seems to be moving away from the premise of the series. But this grim island-based drama, just right for B&W and not colour, is so perfectly scripted and acted that I can do without the Seaview for one week.

For some reason, many season one episodes don't always survive endless repeat viewings that well, but The Enemies is the exception, I have watched this several times and I never get tired of it.

A good and solid story here which takes place on an isolated island where our leads are brought against their will. So this time the story is not entirely aboard the SEAVIEW. You have here Henry Silva as the villain, of course. But the main interest is else where, I let you find out. You have to expect some entertaining surprises which you have not seen yet. A slice of science fiction, as usual, and lots of exotic adventure. Felix Feist made it, as he did for many episodes of the show. One among the most surprising, so far in the series. I hope there will be many more of this kind. That's unfortunately the only episode in which Henry Silva appears.
