The secret of jazz musicians Sol Yaged and Terry Gibbs was that they had taught host Steve Allen how to play their musical instruments. Yaged instructed Allen how to play the clarinet for the film, The Benny Goodman Story (1956), and Gibbs taught him how to play the xylophone and vibes for Allen's nightclub act with wife, Jayne Meadows.
