Short summary

Following an infestation of bugs the Simpsons send their clothes to be dry-cleaned but Marge's wedding dress ends up with Krusty and Lisa plays sleuth to get it back. Meanwhile trendy new vicar Elijah Hooper appoints Homer as a deacon, causing Tim Lovejoy to resign and Bart and Milhouse to join forces with Ned Flanders to restore the old order - helped by the bugs.

This is a rare occasion in The Simpsons in which the couch gag at the end of the title sequence (in this case the Simpsons falling on and destroying the couch) is actually incorporated into the episode's plot.

Rev. Elijah Hooper mentions the movie Fight Club near the end of the episode. Edward Norton, who voices him, stared in Fight Club alongside Brad Pitt.

The title is a reference to the film "Pulp Fiction".

I know that a lot of people like to complain that the show isn't as funny as it used to be, but it's still good and still the best animated show on the Fox schedule. It still makes me laugh a lot more often than Bob's Burgers ever has (or probably ever will). Mild spoilers ahead:

Following a bedbug infestation, the good reverend gets supplanted by another reverend and Homer becomes a deacon. Bart does what Bart typically does in order to get Homer back to being Homer and the day is saved. There's a sub-plot about Marge's wedding dress which has a few laughs, but Homer singing his own lyrics to "Day By Day" is hilarious! Funny episode in general. Worth watching.

Pulpit Friction is a great Simpsons episode with a very enjoyable storyline and a great side story as well.I really enjoyed Reverend Lovejoy's role in this episode,it's a different side to him that never been on the show before, particularly when we see him as a salesman trying to influence people in to buying a hot tub.I also really enjoyed Edward Norton's guest role in this episode as a priest who makes many interesting references to pop culture that I found very funny.Pulpit Friction is a very enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Reverend Lovejoy is pushed out by a savvy new priest that uses pop culture to relate to his crowd, meanwhile,a mix up at a dry cleaners causes Marge to have to track down her wedding dress
