Short summary

Cut from his NFL football team, a man starts bonding with his young daughter and encourages her to play soccer.
Marion "Mad Dog" Casey is one of the biggest, baddest and most outrageous names in professional football, but lately his mouth has been outpacing his performance on the field. When Marion's contract isn't renewed and no one else rushes to sign him, he's not happy. Meanwhile, his wife Holly, who has spent many years being a stay-at-home mom for their 10-year-old daughter Lacy, sees this as an opportunity for her to pursue her career ambitions in interior design. After chauffeuring Lacy to ballet and theatre class - activities she really doesn't like, Marion discovers that she has a knack for soccer. He signs her up and begins his new life as a Soccer Dad - the only 300-pound, overbearing, ex-football player in the group! As he navigates the trickiness of being a hands on parent with soccer mom Lori and the other moms, Marion discovers the joy of his new relationship with his daughter.

My Dad's a Soccer Mom would be best enjoyed by a family with older children who are 8 and up. The movie is best enjoyed as a prime time movie, just after dinner and dishes. The cast make a believable attempt at their characters although no one is a great actor, nor does anyone have a great role. The movie plugs through and keeps one's attention during most of the movie. However, I wish that predictable movies like this one would just cut to the chase. Dessert, popcorn, sandwiches are all great snacks for this film since it does not require constant attention to all the details to enjoy this movie. So prop up your feet and relax with this movie. I give it three thumbs up out of ten.

My seven year old son, the hubby, and I watched it. The movie was good enough to hold all of our interests. The hubby didn't even pick up his cell to Facebook during the movie (which was surprising). ???? It was nice to watch a good "clean" family movie. Soooooo many family movies today use language and suggest ideas that I don't want introduced to my children. This is one that I felt was truly safe to allow my children to watch without wondering if they would pick up some inappropriate behavior. This would make a great dad/daughter date night movie. Of course, it would also be a great movie to watch for a girls soccer team.

Linebacker Marion "Mad Dog" Casey (Lester Speight) who has the biggest arms and mouth in the league gets cut. His wife Holly (Wendy Raquel Robinson) opts to do her decorating business full time with her sister, leaving out football star to be "Mr Mom." He bonds with their shy reserved daughter Lacy (Skai Jackson) as he secretly signs her up for soccer at the expense of mom's choices, ballet and drama.

The film shows a dad bonding with his daughter and having a good time doing it. It had all the right messages and I had wished the acting and script could have been above the "made for TV norm." Drama/family /Comedy rated TV-PG.
