Short summary

After Alison Glenn is found dead in her garden her prison officer husband husband Michael tells Vera she had fallen out with best friend Asha over Asha's son Sahil's obsession with her daughter Molly. Vera is surprised to learn that Alison had a father and brother from whom she had been estranged for over twenty years and never mentioned though she had recently encountered her brother Tom, a young man of limited intelligence dominated by his father and anxious to seek her out. Michael had also been involved in drug smuggling for imprisoned racketeer Brian Delaney. With several parties from the past and present with likely motives Vera must work out which was the murderer.

Vera and Aiden are called to a domestic, Alison Glen is found dead by her young son Elliot, prime suspect is her husband Michael, who lied about his whereabouts on the night of her death. Alison's estranged father Robert is also in the picture, as is Michael's wayward brother Jason.

Black Ice last week had been a bit slow and confusing, Home had put the series firmly back on track, it was gripping, intriguing and easy to follow. A great set of characters, ultimately a good list of suspects. The script was first rate, some great dialogue between Vera and Aiden. This was an ultimately satisfying Episode.

It is no wonder millions tune in to watch Blethyn, she is an outstanding actress, and showcased her skills once again, her scenes with the young lad Elliot were so good. Vincent Regan and Christopher Fairbank were both particularly good, Rita Tushingham was a joy to watch, she is fabulous.

Home looks like an open and shut case for Vera. The body of Alison Glen is found dead by her young son. Her husband Michael is a prison officer but he was not at work on the night of his wife's death but here he is with his work uniform on.

However the episode is full of lies and twists which led to a tragic outcome.

Micheal has been led astray by his brother who tells him he is heavily in debt. Vera uncovers Alison ran away from her father and brother and refused to acknowledge their existence. There was so much about her past that people knew nothing about.

There were a few occasions where it was a bit clunky but this was an engaging episode where it left you guessing until the end when the pieces could be put together.
