    • Author: Macage
The 26 year old Harold Lloyd is a colourful character painted with careful brush strokes that alludes to the loneliness of Chaplin and embodying the integrity of Lonesome Luke as the outsider. This enables the audience to identify with him in each short film joining him on his 20th century Gulliver's travels through life during his 20's. As a soda jerk he is a displaced human resource. It is the only thing that separates him from poverty, making a clear demarkation between his glasses character and Lonesome Luke. The glasses character is a professionally trained person who is offered mediocre jobs. Lonesome Luke is a tramp who is demonised by society. Both of them are treated as outsiders.
