Eleanor Field and Cullen Landis are in love, but her father, Billy Bevan, objects because.... hey this is a one-reel comedy and we don't have time for things like that. After he sneaks past Bevan, the young couple decide to force the issue. The pastor next door has small pox, so they paint marks on each other's face. Bevan catches on and with the aid of a cooperative beat officer, he does his best to scare them.

I'm not sure how many tickets this comedy sold, what with the Spanish Influenza killing more people than the First World War, but it's a typical mild Christie comedy from the period when slapstick was killing more polite forms of screen comedy -- except at Christie where they proudly announced they would do real comedy, with real story, and not that low-brow, baggy-pants shtick. They even held out for a few more months. The leads are attractive, and Billy Bevan demonstrates, once again, that he can actually act, but this one is just okay .
