Short summary
An Indian sells golden amulets to superstitious deck hands: the ship on which they work is haunted by a water spirit. Bureau Merlina finds out the amulets are made of pyrite instead of gold. By using Napoleon his device which "stops all sounds" the spirit is silenced.
