Short summary

Having just given birth to her first child, Jennifer Schmidt's world is turned upside down when she learns that her husband was killed in Iraq- less than one month before he was due home. It's not until an unexpected letter arrives in the mail three weeks later, that she receives the answer to the one question that continually haunts her; why he died.

The film was shot over two days in Brenham, TX.

Nearly every shot in the film is moving.

Director Zac Heath had no intention of casting Maurice Mejia for his next film, The River Within. Mejia auditioned for the role like many others and nailed the part.

After being inspired by long steadicam shots, Zac Heath chose to open the film with one that traveled completely through the house, even though it took a considerable amount of time to plan.

An early cut of the film included music by Alison Krauss.

Originally, Derrick Sims was to be director of photography, but the shooting dates conflicted with his teaching at the NWAAFA.

In the final scene, the grenade was meant to go toward an open door. However, the door opening was too dark and didn't appear on the footage. So, in post-production, a "digital doorway" was added.
