30 for 30 Shorts: The Sweet Solution (2015)

Entertaining short from ESPN about the Florida Gators football program and how the hot temperatures constantly had players being put in the hospital. A group of scientists decide to try and fix the problem so they created a drink and used it on the Freshman team. Once they saw the impact that the drink had they started giving it to the other players including Quarterback Steve Spurrier who would go onto his best season. Of course, we now know this drink as Gatorade. This is a highly entertaining short thanks in large part to the interviews with the players who experimented with this drink as well as the surviving doctors who come up with the drink. All of them tell some terrific stories and you really get a great idea of what it was like on the hot field before and after the drink. This is certainly a very good episode for the series as I'm sure most people know what Gatorade is but it's doubtful they know where it came from.
