Little Juliet, daughter of a rich mill owner, is not a lovable child. She has been brought up too indulgently and has developed into an objectionable little girl whose every whim must be gratified. Playing one day with a ball near the mill, she kicks it along a lane, where it stops at the feet of a little boy. Being a boy, Matthew kicks the ball. This so enrages Juliet that nothing less than an abject apology from Matthew will appease her, and the mill foreman punishes the boy still further by ordering him to stay in the mill all day Sunday to "clear things up a bit." On Sunday Juliet's cousins come to play with her, and they choose the precincts of the mill as a playground. Inquisitive, Juliet goes into the elevator well and automatic action sets the machinery in motion. Juliet is in danger of being crushed to death.
