Wait excels in the short form.

It gives you everything in a tight ball so you can unpack it later after watching. The cold landscape of Maine never looked more beautiful and yet less forgiving as a girl at a tender age waits for what we all guess early is inevitable.

But maybe next time we watch the short, it'll be different, right?

Also of note beyond the excellent camera work, is the sound. Taken completely from audio recorded post-shoot, it not only syncs up nicely, but is as crisp as the visuals and plot. An outstanding job done well.

I would highly recommend those running festivals or just general viewing gatherings pick this one up to show.

a very well-written, well-acted short film. spare, lean, and poignant. wait excels in its brevity.

emma schwartz is extraordinarily believable as the young protagonist. it is hard to believe that this is her film debut. she captures her character's full range of emotions: longing, love, despair, and ultimately, hope.

she connects very well with daniel gelinas, who portrays bus driver #2. he gives an admirable performance, adding an unexpected layer of depth in his role as a bus driver on an endless loop journey; in just a few lines of dialogue he is able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the anguish felt by the young girl.

there are a few to-be-expected minor glitches in continuity; however, they are very small and do not detract from the overall effect.
