The morning after the Albanians have sent the burning car into a hotel owned by Richie,torching part of it,Richie goes for a check-up with prosperous Dr Seb Whiting,an old acquaintance,who diagnoses stress. The Albanians intercept an illegal consignment of the Becketts,killing their inside man. Cal retaliates by giving an Albanian who has been following him a violent kicking and Marin gets revenge by having his gang brutalize Matty when he tries to act as go-between. Marin announces that he will only deal with Richie,who meets with Marin's father Vajkal and agrees to give him fifty houses in exchange for the woman's corpse. Having left Vajkal Richie starts to have flashbacks about a young girl he buried thirty years earlier. He also beats up Cal but cannot recall doing it.
