Sassy the Sasquatch, the main focus of "Sassy & the Private Eye," first appeared as a side character in the short film "Vampire-Killing Prostitute." Both short films were made for the University of Central Arkansas film program and premiered at the 2015 Little Rock Film Festival.

Jordan Mears, the writer-director "Vampire-Killing Prostitute," from where Sassy the Sasquatch originated, makes a cameo in an early scene as a bar patron who watches Sassy play piano before he passes out.
