This episode included a tribute to Jan Hooks who had passed away two days before this was originally telecast. The footage shown, a "Schillervision" clip from when she was a cast member, was also used as a tribute to the passing of Phil Hartman in 1998. It marked the end of a cycle as Jan had personally presented the clip back then as a tribute to her friend Hartman.

This is the first time Bill Hader has returned to the show since he left in 2013.
