Solomon, a Jewish peddler, adopts Rachel, an orphan, who becomes the playmate of his motherless son, Morris. Solomon saves his money and prospers. Morris is well educated and is finally sent to college, where he forms an attachment for another young man. Solomon has been looking forward to the day his son should graduate and become his business partner, but the old man's heart is well-nigh broken when Morris comes home with airy notions, and a feeling of shame for his father. He wishes to go into business with his chum and Solomon gives him the money. Morris becomes infatuated with his partner's sister, to whom he becomes engaged. He refuses to live with his father and takes a handsome apartment, where he gives a dinner in honor of the prospective bride. Solomon is not invited, but thinks it an oversight on the part of his son, and attends with Rachel. Angered, and thinking himself humiliated, Morris disowns his father. The old man denounces his son and his associates and departs. ...

A story of Jewish people, a father, Solomon, his son and an orphan, an adopted daughter. In the early scenes the father and the son are peddlers; suspenders, etc., are their stock. The next scenes show the father as elderly, but prosperous, in a small way. The boy goes to college and becomes a lawyer; makes friends in society and grows so snobbish that his old father seems to him to disgrace him. This angers the old man and he curses him; but a day of great trouble comes to the son and he is thankful to come back to his home and his people, the only refuge in his sorrow that he has, and there he is kindly received. It is distinctly a human-interest picture. It is well acted, Mr. Wm. Walthall being the son of Solomon and Miss Ruth Robinson being the adopted orphan. These two are very ably supported. It can safely be called a feature. It is of full length and well photographed. - The Moving Picture World, February 10, 1912
