This film was amazing! I am really excited about this one because it's so rare to find really good fantasy films these days. So this one is a gem. The plot is excellent, with well developed characters and amazing backstory. You find yourself completely wrapped up in the narrative and even on the edge of your seat a few times. It is also relatively clean, which is a relief. It has a few mature moments, but nothing like a certain popular fantasy series with dragons that I'm still mad about because the content was so bad... never mind. Sore spot. The Russian language is also very fun to listen to. It has a sound to it that really adds something to the film and I could listen to it all day. The acting is top notch and the special effects are very well done too. All in all, I highly recommend this film to any and all fantasy fans. 10 out of 10 stars!

If you wanna find love inside yourself you need to watch this movie. That story about fight of the good and evil in the person. He wanna be just a man but he can't and he don't wanna be a dragon. All his life he fights with dragon inside himself. Miroslava gives him hope for reconciliation with himself. He will find love... You will see Russian tradition closes and beautiful nature, snow and sea. This film is full of contrasts fire and Ice, black and white. Love leads to death and love gives life. I think this is the best Russian movie that I have seen over the last ten years. Beautiful actors, gorgeous scenery. And sorry for my English.

(Please note: this review is by someone unfamiliar with Russian language, film industry, and ignorant of Russian folklore, fairy-tales, etc., lured into watching by the Beauty-and-the-Beast-like trailer without subtitles) Production design: sumptuous. Cast: enchanting. Artistic direction: magical. Script: at times witty with depth, not undermined by the lavish set and costumes. Pace: just right. Background music: soul-stirringly moving. Perfect film for cuddling with beloved, sharing with fellow romantics, and watching again. And again. (Personally, I enjoyed it even more when I re-watched without subtitles, and this is the first time ever I've done for a language I can't understand)

I can not tell you enough how much I loved it(I truly found my favorite movie, best romance movie ever!!!) !!!I do not often fan girl and fall in love with movies like this, I feel like a small 10 year old girl squealing over some boy-band. It is so beautiful, innocent and contains so much love. The scenes were GORGEOUS, with snow, the beach and caves, снимки просто одпад!!! I watched it twice so far, I discovered it the other day, and already made my mother and sister watch it. The actors are so beautiful and loving towards one another. I speak Russian and live in America, it was great to see a lot of the heritage and culture put into the movie. At times I actually got teary eyed because of how emotional it was. It had a good amount of a little bit of fear. Like I said before I am about to go out and recommend this movie to the entire world, a lot of hard work and love went into this movie so hopefully they will truly get a profit out of this movie!!! This was a perfect romantic feel-good movie. The camera work was beautiful. The special effects were wonderful; the fantastical interacted with the real seamlessly. The plot was great, I loved the transition from folk tale to 'reality.' I especially liked the development of the two main characters, Mira most of all. Her initial introduction had me thinking she was going to be a brat through-out and I was pleasantly surprised.

I was randomly sifting through films on Amazon Prime and came across this title. Thought I'd give it a whirl and was so pleased I did! I knew it had me hooked when I stopped fast forwarding (it's only a ten second jump) very early in the film. There is something about the scenery and 'feel' of the island that made it almost mystical. They haven't overdone the CGI; the dragon is realistic and beautiful. The acting is superb and the music lovely. The song Mira sings towards the end is magical and beautifully conveys the deep longing in her heart. If you like dragons, fantasy, and romance, this is a must.

A beautiful, heart-warming fairy-tale that shows true love and holds on to morale in every aspect.

The story is amazing, the effects are superb and music is so touching. Do not miss out on this one if you love fantasy and dragons! All in all 10/10 from me. I watched it today twice and I'll watch it again!

We need more films like this, where true love is shown in such a good way, not like in new films where only passion prevails, I am tired of that.

A must watch for fans of fantasy films, I personally finds this better than majority of ''modern'' fantasy films. This film deserves a higher score.

I really liked this! It's what you want in a fun fantasy movie. I took Russian in high school so I remember very little. However I can say that the subtitles I read were pretty on. The translation to English was right. It's a little strange but that's how it goes. Which is pretty fitting for the movie. It's really pretty and the message is transferred beautifly. I could see actually owning this. Its pleasant to listen to and its lovely to watch. I can see watching this again for sure.

There are some funny moments and all the typical moments.But there are also some scenes that are done in a nice way that could come off as cheap but they are nice instead. I appreciated the feel that was pulled off. Well done... If I say so myself, but Im sure there are plenty out there who wont agree.

This was a stunning movie. It felt like a fairy tale from old Russia told through beautiful imagery and storytelling. As a non Russian speaker - the visuals and acting were only enhanced by the Russian language that sounded almost poetic and added to the romantic feel of the movie.

The cinematography was lovely and fit perfectly with with the story and the Russian actors were perfect for their roles. Their facial expressions truly brought the story to life.

It is nice to see Russia can make such movies and Hollywood could learn a thing or two from them !

It would be so easy to overlook this movie. The trailer alone is enough to turn you off as being a predictable sweet romance. It is that. But then it isn't. There's a simplicity and beauty and .... dare I say it ....humility to this movie that is quite simply captivating. It's disarming in its simplicity. It's beautifully filmed, beautifully acted and the music is magical. There are beautiful films that almost seem to parade their beauty: Look at me, they proclaim, look how gorgeous I am. There is none of that in this movie. It simply is. Unpretentious, yet moving. I would say this baby sister to the big sister charm of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. And that is a credit to both films - so completely different though they are.

I have heard the Russia makes good movies but this movie is exceptional and beautiful a movie with a beautiful storyline and meaning. Recommend to everyone. Best movie in the last 5 years. It is one of those movies that you can watch more than one time and never get bored. Good movie to see with the loved ones I think the only one reason why the movie is not more that 7 is because of the language. If it where in English it would have at least 8.5 but i thing the fact that is in Russian is best. I don't understand Russian but this movie is made so good so you can understand everything without knowing the language. This movie isn't trying to be more than what it is. I've seen the English title as alternatively "I am Dragon" or "He is Dragon" and it does exactly what you'd expect for a movie with a title like that.

He's a dragon. He's got some issues revolving around that. She's a princess, also arguably with some issues. The graphics are really really amazing. I would 100% buy that somewhere in the Black Sea this is a real life island and they shot on location.

If you've ever enjoyed a romance novel, this movie 100% will fulfill all the best parts of that novel. The Princess is much tougher than she seems on meeting and while the over all plot is predictable there are still enough moments of suspense to keep you interested. The ending had me low key crying with laughter because I did not expect it. 100% would recommend this movie.

Every book or movie I've tried to find just weren't right, or it was smut and I wanted something cleaner. I just happened to stumble across this and it was amazing!!

An innocent and naive, but very sincere and simple. Very emotional if you are able to connect with it. The music by Jenia Lubich is something else! It really does take to some place else.

Overall if you like romantic, a bit childish but beautiful stories, also with a strong moral - this one is for you))

Is this the "best" movie ever(?)... no! However (because my English grammar school teacher informed me never to start a sentence with 'But'), it does remind you that storytelling isn't a lost art.

This is a beautiful fable; a fantasy (like 'Never Ending Story') that you can be a part of. You know what's coming; you know what happens next... but you want to see the creators 'tell' the story. Love isn't lost...

We love this movie. It's subtle, creative, kind, sensational. Awesome movie. Extraordinaire. Perfecta.

Everybody should see this beautiful story. Reminds me of the sweet and innocent childhood days when anything was possible if you were brave enough

I went into this movie not knowing what to expect. What I got was a relatively normal story, girl meets boy who is not what he seems (think Twilight as an example). However saying that does it little justice, yes the story was basic but what made it different however was the Russian aspect of the movie. Certain areas bleed certain stories and this one seems written perfectly for that culture. What was a basic story had culture plastered all over it making it a great watch. The actress who played Miroslava was gorgeous in her role, playing the character very well and being accompanied well by the main actor.

The only thing I will say though is watch the movie in the original Russian, there is something about the girls voice in the English dubbed version on the DVD that really grated me.

I added this to my Amazon Prime Watchlist based on the "Dragon" aspect of the title. I thought I was going to be watching a "kill the dragon" film, and got an poignant, epic romance instead. Getting what was up seconds after the girl woke up in the cage, I stuck with it because I felt there was a quality there to be appreciated. Boy was I right. Que the tissue at the end, I have to admit. The shot of him falling morphing into the boat was pure magic, and added to the emotion of the moment. I'm not a big romance fan, but I have to recommend this film for surprising me with the plot, and presenting a beautifully told story beautifully.

This may look cheesy from the outside, but this movie truly is a hidden gem. Some of the scenes and transitions are truly a masterpiece in terms of film making. Any fantasy fan will love this Russian Beauty and The Beast like saga!

Wow! This movie is exactly what it says it is. It's an amazing story that addresses matters of the heart. Beautifully scripted with a wonderful soundtrack. I do not mind subtitles, unless they switch too fast to read. This movie's subtitles were perfectly timed. Like I mentioned already, it's beautifully and poetically scripted. I enjoyed it very much. Great story. Great actors. I highly recommend it.

I Welsh so dragons are a big thing in my life, I lived with story's of dragons since I was a kid and to see a love story with a dragon not played as a villain was a delight. Effects were dam good, well acted by a young cast who I can see great thanks from in the furtue. I will say this Disney are always looking they next big princess film and maybe they found one ready and waiting here.

If you stumble across this film and wonder if it's worth the watch, it is! It's a wonderful movie and well worth your time!

You will love this movie! A very pleasant surprise!
