Host Syd Lambert and producer Verity Newman, for instance are derived from the names of Doctor Who's first producer, Verity Lambert, and its creator Sydney Newman. Contestants Ian and Barbara have the same names as the first companions, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright.
