» » How I Met Your Mother The Naked Man (2005–2014)

Short summary

Ted is relaying to his children the story of how he moved on to the next woman after Stella left him right before the wedding. Her name was Vicky, a woman he saw every day in the elevator. After a week of furtive glances, he asked her out to which she accepted. Based on a ploy by Robin's latest date to sleep with her (the ploy called "the naked man"), the gang discuss the effectiveness of the ploy and the role of sex in their respective lives. Specifically between Marshall and Lily, they debate if love is the only reason to sleep with another person. Robin needs to defend her decision to sleep with Mitch, the naked man guy, with whom she may not have ever seen again after that date. And Barney urges Ted to employ the naked man technique on Vicky, despite Ted believing that he may have a future with her.

The bookmarked poem by Pablo Neruda is "Mañana XXVII", the first line of which is "Desnuda, eres tan simple como una de tus manos". In English, that's "Naked, you are as simple as one of your hands". The rest of the poem describes features of his lover's naked body.

In Doogie Howser, M.D.: Spell It 'M-A-N' (1993), While Doogie is on a date in his loft, his date references a time she was on a date and her date attempted (and failed) a 'Naked Man'.

Barney mentions that Mitch, the Naked Man, is like Superman. Guest star Courtney Ford is married to actor Brandon Routh, who played Superman in Supermenas: sugrižimas (2006).

In the ninth episode of the fourth season, Mitch performs the act of "The Naked Man" when he felt like his date with Robin wasn't leading anywhere. The Naked Man is an act that consists of getting naked once the girl you are with leaves the room. In the "Monopoly" episode of the show Doogie Howser, which stars Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson), the Naked Man was introduced.

Mitch's first failed Naked Man attempt was with The Mother.

TV gold right here ladies and gentleman, this is one of THE best episodes of "How I Met Your Mother"

Plot In A Paragraph: When the gang hear of a desperate move by a date got Robin in to bed, Barney is impressed enough to want to try it, and convinced Ted that he too should try the move known as "The Naked Man". Meanwhile Lily tries to compile a list of reasons to have sex.

This was brilliant. When Barmey and Ted were both naked trying out positions for the naked man, I was actually howling with laughter, and did not stop!! It was hilarious.

I was talking about this episode the next day in a bar with my friends, and they all agreed it was one of the best episodes.

Very hilarious. The idea of the naked man is great. And I really liked Adam Paul as Mitch, he was hilarious in this character. Only Robin is a disappointment with her worry people may see her as a slut. I prefer the ones who have random sex proudly instead of trying to fit into sexist views of society. Can't believe they made Robin like that. But let's be real, in this episode it actually works for the good as it gives us some extra fun with the "i am not a slut date".

And yes, so funny. The reasons for sex were pretty laugh out loud funny, and I also loved Ted and Barney getting ready for the naked man and discuss how they will be presenting it. Poor Barney of course, but after all it is 2 out of 3!

If your looking for a funny episode stand right up here to watch this... BUT if your looking for the best episode I will tell you to look at the series finale "The Leap".

The Naked Man Was Actually The First Episode I Ever Watched Of HIMYM The Whole Way Through, I Was Channel Flicking & I Came Across This & Before This I Only Watched Bits & Pieces Of Any HIMYM Episode & I Outwatched It & I F##king Loved It. The Amount Of Laughs I Got With The First Viewing Made Me A Complete HIMYM Fan & I Even Got The Other 3 Seasons The Next Day(At The Time There Were Only 3 Seasons Available In Stores).

The "Naked Man" Move Is Also Redone In The Series 5 Episode "Rabbit Or Duck". Never Before The First Time I Saw A TV Episode Had I Turned Off The TV Lost For Words I Swear After Two Minutes Of Silence I Burst Into Laughter.

This episode may not be every HIMYM fan's cup of tea for humor but I'm just saying it's mine

Funny how the writers forget half of their audience is women. Just like so many episodes of season 3, this one is filled with misogyny too. Marshall starts calling Robin a slut for having a one night stand. Not once, but multiple times. Yes, Marshall is Robin's friend. Yes, Barney is sitting at the same table . Barney, who is nothing more than a man whore and is made out to be a stud. They never showed anybody slut shaming Barney, interestingly. However he slut shames Robin repeatedly, nobody jumps to her defense and the usually self assured Robin turns into this complete insecure, mess who instead of confronting Marshall for being a douche starts to project herself in the good girl image. Shows like these influence men and women across the world. Funny how writers twist masculinity and feminity to suit their utterly sexist and misogynistic world view : Anything typically masculine that men do is cool. Anything typically masculine that females do is disgusting(like One Night Stands). Anything typically feminine that females do is whiny, uncool or disgusting. Anything typically feminine that males do is disgusting, like how they make Marshall to be a wuss when he talks about love, or having sex with just Lily.

Friends was much better than HIMYM on misogyny. I guess there were more female writers in their team. If ever possible, I would like to pose this question to HIMYM team on how they exactly thought misogyny was 'funny' and 'harmless' as well as the deprecating way they depict Marshall. And why they thought a girl would just sit their and listen with a smile while she is called a slut. Dear writers, you should've known this when you were 12 year old boys. We will kick somebody's ass for calling us that instead of sitting and smiling . And yes, , friends definitely don't call that to each other.
