Short summary

A screenwriter follows Squad 51 during a typical day, which includes a motorcycle accident caused by a drunk driver named Gene; the wives of the victim and the drunk driver deal with both their husbands' issues, a construction worker exposed to tetraethyl lead and becomes combative (to the point it takes five firemen to restrain him), assist in the birth of a baby to a deaf-mute couple at a supermarket, and rescue three men trapped in a toy factory fire that turns explosive.

First time guest stars' names appear in the episode credits at the top of Act I, as opposed to their previous position during the end credits.

Miami Dolphin's full back Larry Csonka guest stars as a painter intoxicated by paint fumes. He can be seen wearing one of his Super Bowl rings as he fights with Tim Donnelly's character, Chet Kelly.

First appearance of Squad 51 helmets with the number in green; previously, the number was white.
