Short summary

For his friends, Ted is planning on cooking his first ever Thanksgiving dinner - featuring his own spin on a turducken - but it quickly promises to turn into a disaster for him primarily because of a visit by his, Marshall and Lily's college friend, Steve Henry aka "The Blitz". The nickname "The Blitz" was handed down through the ages at Wesleyan to the person who always missed seeing amazing occurrences once he left the room. Steve has been saddled with the nickname and the curse ever since their days at Wesleyan. But because Ted left MacLaren's early the initial night of the Blitz's visit, the curse and thus the nickname seems to have passed itself from Steve to Ted. What's even worse for Ted is that that night at MacLaren's, Lily, Marshall, Robin, Barney and Steve couldn't help but befriend an unexpected bar patron, Ted's arch nemesis Zoey, who ends up figuring prominently in the group's Thanksgiving festivities much to both Ted and Zoey's chagrin in more ways than one.

At McLarens, Zoey dares Marshall to send a picture of his junk to an anonymous person. Zoey calls for everyone to shout out random numbers to which "The Blitz" Jorge Garcia responds with 4 8 15 16 23 42, which were the numbers that Jorge Garcia's character, Hurley, discovers on Teadmata kadunud (2004).

When Steve "The Blitz" Henry describes being cursed by being the Blitz, he compares it to "being stuck on an island for ages." Jorge Garcia is most famous for his role on Teadmata kadunud (2004).

The character of "Matt Blitz" makes an appearance earlier in the show in the episode 'The Playbook'.

The method by which the curse of the 'Blitz' is passed from one person to another (a trail of mist going to and from the mouth) is a visual in-joke to the Buffy episode Vampiiritapja Buffy: Hush (1999) where people magically lose their voices in an identical manner. In that episode of Buffy, the villains were called the Gentlemen, which is a catch phrase in this episode of HIMYM.

The character name of the original Blitz is Matt Blitz. Matthew Blitz is one of the production staff for the show.

In S06E10 "Blitzgiving", when Zoey dares Marshall to send a picture of his junk to a random number, the Blitz shouts out the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42, which are the numbers that are frequently used in the show Lost in which Jorge Garcia (the Blitz) plays Hugo.

The voice who whispers "blitz" every time the curse is transferred is Josh Radnor, the actor who plays Ted.

The Blitz uses the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Jorge Garcia, the actor who plays The Blitz, also plays Hurley in Lost, who is supposedly cursed due to his usage of these exact same numbers, which bring bad luck to any and all who use them. The Blitz' using these numbers in this episode is most likely the cause of his bad luck and curse, similar to Hurley's.

Ted says that he is "the Bueller" after Robin exclaims that Ted sang 'Twist and Shout' when the gang unexpectedly joined a Thanksgiving parade. This is a reference to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in which the main character crashes a street parade and performs Twist and Shout. Marshal then quotes a famous line from the movie.

Zoey and the Blitz both appear together in series 2, episode 6 of Once Upon a Time as Emma Swan and Anton the giant.

For some inexplicable reason, the TV channel I'm watching the reruns on, skipped the last episode.

Plot In A Paragaph: When Ted leaves the bar early to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for his friends, the gang winds up partying all night with his enemy Zoe and "The Blitz" an old friend from college who has bad luck (Every time he leaves somewhere, something awesome always happens) As a result, Ted becomes "The Blitz"

There is a lot of fun in this episode, especially the Blitz part. However Zoe keeps coming back, and the show is obviously leading towards her being a love interest for Ted. I didn't think I'd dislike a love interest for Ted, as much as I disliked Stella. But Zoe is ridiculously annoying.

A very fun and creative episode. The idea of "Blitz" is pretty good and the best thing is that we have Jorge Garcia in it playing the cursed guy, hinting a lot at his character from Lost. At some point he even says the lottery numbers whose significance people who watched Lost can definitely remember. I actually felt bad for him because it looks like he ended up having the Blitz curse again, but then they obviously couldn't have left it with Barney. He always lives legendary.

I am not really a big fan of Zoey. They already made too much for us to dislike her so that liking her won't happen so easily. The stepdaughter thing was not enough.
