Hollywood producer Fred Huggins (Ralph Bell) is in the audience of Peter and Mary's nightclub act. He and his assistant Blake Barker (Werner Klemperer, Col. Klink of "Hogan's Heroes", "Judgment at Nuremberg") approach Peter about starring as a Roaring Twenties racketeer in their newest picture "The Racket Man". Mary encourages him to take the role, as filming will be done locally and she would enjoy more time at home. After reading the script he begins transferring his suspicious, childlike character into his home life. When the producers view his screen test they are disgusted by Peter's overly dramatic performance that is unintentionally comedic. Instead, Mary helping out in the scene, is offered a role. Peter encourages her to take it, but it's no bed of roses.

I can't think of another show like this series where the episodes are either good or bad, with little "average" episodes to this point.
